Vietnam schools implement diverse approaches to student meal safety
Educational institutions in Vietnam are adopting different strategies to address parental concerns regarding school meal quality and food safety.
At Hien Tri Primary School in Ho Chi Minh City, a model has been implemented where parents prepare lunch boxes for their children to bring to school. The school integrates this practice into the curriculum, teaching students about food characteristics, gratitude, and independence. Teachers guide students to observe the smell, color, and texture of their food to identify any irregularities.
In Nha Trang, local authorities are responding to parental feedback regarding school meal safety by transitioning to a centralized meal management model. Officials stated that food suppliers will be selected under local supervision, with strict inspections of ingredients like vegetables starting as early as 6:30 AM. Authorities have committed to conducting unannounced food safety inspections to ensure nutritional standards and hygiene are maintained.
