Vietnam seeks 700 billion USD for green transition
Vietnam requires approximately 700 billion USD to achieve its commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050. While international capital for green transitions is reportedly available, the country faces challenges in absorbing these funds effectively.
According to Nguyen Quang Thuan, Chairman and CEO of FiinGroup, the primary bottleneck is not the availability of capital but the ability to channel it into suitable projects. Many domestic green initiatives currently lack the scale, design, and financial structure required to attract large-scale foreign investment. This gap is particularly notable in major infrastructure sectors such as metro systems, expressways, seaports, and water infrastructure, where funding tends to remain limited compared to smaller-scale projects.
