Vietnam sees surge in Russian tourists, entering top 10 destinations

Russian tourism to Vietnam has experienced significant growth in 2026. Data from the Russian telecommunications provider MegaFon indicates that roaming subscribers in Vietnam increased by 131% compared to the same period in 2025. This surge has propelled Vietnam into the top 10 most popular international destinations for Russians, surpassing Thailand to take the 9th position.

In the first eight months of 2026, the number of Russian visitors to Vietnam exceeded 1 million, representing a 166% increase over the previous year. Key destinations include Nha Trang and Da Nang. There is also a notable shift in traveler demographics, with a growing proportion of high-income and luxury segment travelers choosing Vietnam.

Experts attribute this growth to several factors, including the resumption of direct flights and simplified visa policies. Additionally, Vietnam is perceived as a stable and safe destination compared to other popular markets. The ease of travel organization, including entry requirements and flight availability, has become a decisive factor for Russian travelers.
