Vietnamese authorities, acting on a tip from U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, inspected the MP company in Ho Chi Minh City on 16 July 2026. The inspection uncovered nearly 50,000 pairs of shoes bearing the Nike, Nike Air and Air Jordan trademarks, including 25,396 finished pairs, 20,875 uppers and 10,800 soles. The counterfeit goods were virtually indistinguishable from genuine products, with authentic‑style verification codes copied from real Nike items.

The seized inventory was valued at more than VND 100 billion (about US$3.8 million). Part of the shipment had already left Vietnam in 11 containers destined for the United States. Nike confirmed it never authorized any licensing or contract with MP or related firms. The operation was conducted in coordination with Vietnam’s Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, the cybercrime unit A05 of the Ministry of Public Security, and local police, highlighting a cross‑border intellectual‑property infringement case of significant scale.
