Vietnam selects ‘Ho Linh Trang Si’ for Oscar preliminary round

The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has officially selected the historical action film ‘Ho Linh Trang Si: Bi An Mo Vuat Dinh’ (The Guardians: Mystery of King Dinh's Tomb) to participate in the preliminary round for the 99th Academy Awards.

Directed by Nguyen Phan Quang Binh, the film is set during the late Dinh Dynasty and follows seven warriors tasked with protecting the secrets of King Dinh Tien Hoang's burial site. The plot involves the use of 99 coffins sent in various directions to mislead those seeking the royal tomb.

Binh Hanh Dan Co., Ltd. and TV360 are responsible for coordinating with the Cinema Department to submit all required documentation, including the DCP film and English-subtitled versions, before the October 1, 2026 deadline. While the film's domestic box office performance did not meet initial expectations, it has gained international recognition, having been featured in the Gala Presentations at the Toronto International Film Festival and scheduled for the Busan International Film Festival under the ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’ program.
