Vietnamese Military Deploys 82 Personnel to Aid Earthquake Relief in Venezuela

A delegation of 82 members of the Vietnamese People’s Army and Public Security Force departed for Venezuela to support earthquake‑relief operations. The farewell ceremony was held at Noi Bai International Airport and was chaired by Lt Gen Nguyễn Trường Thắng, who also welcomed Venezuelan envoy Estela Del Valle Quijada Suarez. The envoy praised Vietnam’s commitment and expressed confidence in the mission’s success.

The team comprises 26 officers and 56 professional soldiers organized into four units: an engineering rescue unit, a medical unit, a K‑9 search‑and‑rescue unit and a command group. They are carrying roughly 88 tonnes of equipment, including food, shelter kits, generators and specialized rescue tools. This marks Vietnam’s third overseas humanitarian deployment after missions to Turkey and Myanmar, underscoring its growing role in international disaster assistance.
