Vietnam Sets Dong Nai City Development Plan to 2035 with Vision to 2065
On 21 July 2026, President‑General Secretary Tô Lâm signed Politburo Resolution No. 16‑NQ/TW, directing the building and development of Dong Nai city through 2035 and outlining a long‑term vision to 2065. The plan emphasizes expanding the local economy, strengthening industry, improving the investment climate, and progressively upgrading infrastructure, while also advancing education, health, social welfare, and Vietnam’s defence and international integration.
The resolution notes current shortcomings such as an unsustainable economic structure, low technological content, inadequate infrastructure, and urban planning that does not yet match the intended role of an international airport hub. It calls for new institutional mechanisms, decentralised governance (excluding defence, security, foreign affairs and religion), and a clean, strong party and political system involving the party, the people, and the military to drive innovation and effective resource mobilisation.
