Vietnam ships 16,000 tons of steel components for Poland’s Baltica 2 wind farm

Eight massive steel components, totaling 16,000 tons, have departed from Vung Tau, Vietnam, destined for the Baltic Sea to support Poland’s largest renewable energy project, the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm. The shipment includes four offshore substation (OSS) topsides and four modular support frames.

Manufactured by the PTSC M&C consortium in partnership with Denmark’s Semco Maritime, the components underwent over 720 operational tests to ensure reliability in harsh marine environments. The Baltica 2 project, a joint venture between Poland’s PGE and Denmark’s Ørsted, represents an investment of over $7.8 billion with a capacity of 1.5 GW. These components will serve as the energy hub for the farm, collecting power from 107 wind turbines and transmitting it to the shore. The shipment is expected to arrive in the Baltic Sea by November 2026.
