Vietnam Social Insurance warns of malicious fake VssID app

The Vietnam Social Insurance agency issued a warning about a fraudulent application titled "VssID.apk" that contains malware. Scammers impersonate agency officials by phone or text, urging users to install the fake app to update their information or claim benefits. Once installed, the malicious app requests extensive permissions, enabling it to intercept OTP codes, monitor device activity, and potentially control the phone to transfer funds.

The agency emphasized that it never distributes installation files, links, or requests users to download the app via social media or messaging platforms. It advised the public to obtain the legitimate VssID application only from official app stores, verify the publisher, and contact local social insurance offices or the official hotline if any unusual requests are received.
