Vietnam Social Security expands benefits for business owners

Vietnam Social Security has highlighted key benefits for individuals participating in compulsory social insurance and health insurance, particularly following the expansion of coverage under the 2024 Social Insurance Law. A significant update includes the inclusion of registered business household owners in the compulsory social insurance group.

Key benefits for participants include sickness benefits, which provide an allowance of 75% of the salary used for insurance contributions during periods of illness or childcare. Under new regulations effective July 1, 2026, female employees who have a second child and meet specific conditions may be eligible for seven months of maternity leave, an increase from the standard six months.

Additionally, the social insurance framework covers maternity-related needs such as prenatal examinations, miscarriage, and contraceptive measures. The benefits extend to retirement and even provide coverage for relatives upon the death of the insured person. These measures aim to ensure comprehensive protection for workers and business owners during various life stages.
