Vietnam Social Security introduces electronic insurance books

Vietnam Social Security has introduced electronic social insurance books as a digital replacement for traditional paper versions. Under the 2024 Social Insurance Law, these digital books serve as a collection of electronic data recording a worker's participation and benefits, stored within the national social insurance database.

The electronic books allow participants to conveniently track contribution processes, monitor benefits such as sickness, maternity, retirement, and death, and access personal information. Key data includes personal details, the contribution process for compulsory and voluntary insurance, and salary levels used for calculations.

Starting August 1, 2025, the personal identification number (CCCD) will replace the social insurance number. Information is updated automatically and periodically through the Vietnam Social Security system and the VssID application, eliminating the need for individual registration for updates.
