Vietnam spa and beauty industry seeks skill standardization
Experts and managers recently held a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City to address labor productivity and the standardization of professional skills within Vietnam’s spa and beauty industry. While the sector is experiencing rapid growth of 10% to 15% annually, experts noted that this expansion has not been matched by the quality of human resources.
Key challenges identified include gaps between vocational training and actual employment needs, the disconnect between modern technology and user competence, and the tension between business growth and risk management. Participants emphasized the need to define core competencies for specific roles and establish clear legal boundaries between non-medical beauty care and medical interventions. To drive sustainable productivity, experts proposed forming interdisciplinary groups to research competency frameworks and fostering cooperation between the state, educational institutions, and businesses.
