Vietnam street parking management faces illegal reservation issues

Authorities in Vung Tau and Tam Thang wards are facing challenges regarding the management of public street space. Despite the implementation of clearly marked parking lines intended to organize traffic and accommodate residents and tourists, some businesses are reportedly misappropriating these public areas.

Reports indicate that establishments are using items such as flower pots, plastic chairs, styrofoam boxes, and traffic cones to reserve parking spots for their own customers. This practice prevents the general public from using designated spaces, even when the spots are officially marked for public use. Residents have expressed frustration, noting that they are often blocked from using marked bays by staff from nearby businesses, leading to calls for better enforcement of public space rights.
