Vietnam strengthens diplomatic ties with Germany and Lithuania

Vietnamese National Assembly leaders are conducting high-level diplomatic visits to Germany and Lithuania to strengthen political trust and expand multifaceted cooperation.

In Germany, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh held talks with Bundestag Vice President Bodo Ramelow. Discussions focused on deepening the bilateral Strategic Partnership, enhancing legislative oversight, and promoting economic cooperation. Key areas of interest include high-tech, digital transformation, green transition, and renewable energy. Additionally, Vietnam sought German support regarding the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning on illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

In Lithuania, National Assembly Vice President Nguyen Doan Anh met with Speaker of Parliament Juozas Olekas. This visit, the first by a Vietnamese National Assembly leader to Lithuania, aimed to expand ties in trade, investment, technology, energy, and education. The two sides agreed to bolster parliamentary cooperation in digital transformation and green development, and announced the formation of a Lithuania-Vietnam parliamentary friendship group.
