Vietnam strengthens food safety and cosmetic regulations

Authorities in Vietnam are intensifying efforts to ensure food safety and refine cosmetic regulations to protect public health. In regional food safety operations, inspections and monitoring have been increased during major festivals and holidays. Health departments have conducted nearly 200 inspection teams, with over 90% of facilities meeting requirements, while market management authorities have handled hundreds of cases involving expired or unidentified food products.

Simultaneously, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra met with ministries to discuss a draft decree on cosmetic management. Emphasizing that regulation should facilitate market development rather than simply banning products that are difficult to control, the Deputy Prime Minister called for administrative reforms and risk-based management. The goal is to combat counterfeit and low-quality cosmetics while ensuring compliance with the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive and international standards.
