Vietnam strengthens strategic ties with Belarus through diaspora engagement
Vietnam is strengthening its strategic partnership with Belarus by focusing on the role of its overseas community. Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung noted that the Vietnamese community in Belarus, consisting of approximately 700 people, is viewed as a valuable resource for national development and defense.
This engagement aligns with Resolution 23-NQ/TW of the Politburo, which emphasizes a proactive approach to supporting overseas Vietnamese. The community in Belarus, which includes second and third-generation descendants, remains deeply connected to their homeland and plays a key role in preserving Vietnamese cultural values while integrating into local society.
Separately, Vietnamese leader To Lam has emphasized the importance of responsible diplomacy and managing differences to rebuild international trust. He also called for the modernization of Hanoi while preserving its cultural identity.
