Vietnam strengthens wildlife breeding oversight and forest protection

Authorities in Vietnam are intensifying management of wildlife breeding facilities and forest protection efforts. In Hue City, the Forest Protection Department is strengthening oversight of breeding sites for both common and endangered species to ensure biological safety, control origins, and prevent the illegal laundering of wild-caught animals through farms.

In Phong Thai Ward, the breeding of civets has become a significant economic model. Local farmers are expanding herds due to high market demand, with some households managing over 200 animals. Local authorities are working to guide these farmers through farm registration procedures to ensure sustainable development.

In the southern region of Hanoi, forest rangers are conducting continuous patrols in the special-use forests of Huong Son and surrounding areas. These efforts focus on protecting biodiversity and preventing environmental degradation amidst the challenges of climate change. The work involves close coordination between forest protection units and local authorities to manage complex terrains and protect natural resources.
