Vietnam studies South Korean petroleum reserve expertise

Vietnam's Minister of Industry and Trade, Le Manh Hung, visited South Korea to study the nation's petroleum reserve management systems. During a working session at the Guri petroleum reserve depot, managed by the Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC), Hung evaluated South Korea's experience in operating national reserves since 1981.

Vietnam is currently accelerating the modernization of its crude oil and petroleum reserve systems to enhance national energy security. The Vietnamese minister expressed a specific interest in South Korean expertise regarding underground storage technologies, facility design, construction, and operational management.

Le Manh Hung proposed that KNOC share technical knowledge and coordinate training programs for Vietnamese officials. The discussions aimed to strengthen storage capacity and diversify instruments used to guarantee energy supply amidst market fluctuations.
