Vietnam continues support for Agent Orange victims 65 years after disaster

As Vietnam marks 65 years since the onset of the Agent Orange/dioxin disaster (1961–2026), national efforts continue to support victims and their families. Between 2021 and 2025, the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin mobilized over 2,424 billion VND, with approximately 2,314 billion VND directed toward direct support for victims.

Support initiatives include medical care, functional rehabilitation, vocational training, livelihood assistance, and housing improvements. In 2026, a new nationwide program was launched to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing for the children of resistance fighters affected by chemical toxins.

In Lai Chau province, a delegation led by Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Hong visited Binh Lu commune to provide gifts and encouragement to affected families. These activities underscore the state's commitment to addressing the long-term environmental and generational health consequences left by the use of chemical defoliants during the war.
