Vietnam supports UNRWA and deepens regional ties at ASEAN ministers meeting

Vietnam reiterated its unwavering political support for UNRWA, praising the agency's emergency relief work and emphasizing a consistent stance on the Palestine issue. At the 59th ASEAN foreign ministers meeting in Manila, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung held bilateral talks with counterparts from Canada, South Korea, Australia, China, Japan and New Zealand, proposing initiatives across strategic sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, high‑quality infrastructure, resilient supply chains, water‑resource management, climate adaptation and cybersecurity. Vietnam also outlined five priority areas for enhanced ASEAN‑Japan cooperation and called for visa facilitation for the Vietnamese community in Japan. The diplomatic outreach was part of broader efforts to strengthen ASEAN‑wide connectivity, trade resilience and regional openness.
