Vietnam suspends toll collection on National Highway 1 in Ha Tinh

The Vietnam Department of Roads has ordered a 30-day suspension of toll collection at the Ben Thuy and Ben Thuy 2 stations, effective from 0:00 on October 20, 2026. The decision follows the failure of the investor, Cienco 4 Group, to adequately repair and maintain sections of National Highway 1 between South Ben Thuy Bridge and the north bypass of Ha Tinh City.

Despite receiving six official directives to address road damage, the project enterprise has been slow to complete necessary repairs. While some minor works such as pothole patching and sign adjustments were performed between September 11 and October 9, 2026, significant issues including heavy wheel track rutting and cracked surfaces persist. These conditions have been identified as serious traffic safety hazards. The suspension aims to address the investor's violation of maintenance quality requirements stipulated in their BOT contract.
