Vietnam targets 1,500 annual container shipments via China rail link
Vietnam's railway sector is aiming to reach an annual target of 1,500 international container shipments with China. The Railway Transport Joint Stock Company (Traravico) reports that the international rail route connecting Hebei, China, to Vietnam has shown significant improvements in efficiency.
Following over a year of operation, transit times on this route have been reduced from more than 20 days to approximately 5 to 7 days. This reduction helps lower logistics costs and enhances supply chain efficiency for import-export businesses in both nations. The existing international rail connections operate through the Dong Dang and Lao Cai border gates, providing Vietnamese goods access to markets in China, Central Asia, and Europe.
Traravico plans to expand its cargo sources, optimize train schedules, and study the expansion of transport services to Central and Southern Vietnam. The company intends to collaborate with domestic and international partners to promote digital transformation and improve railway logistics capacity to support sustainable trade development.
