Vietnam targets Halal and U.S. markets to boost exports
Vietnamese authorities and industry experts are focusing on expanding export opportunities through the Halal market and the United States.
At a recent conference organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, officials highlighted the significant potential of the global Halal market, which serves approximately 2 billion Muslims across 112 countries. The market is expanding beyond food into cosmetics, tourism, finance, and logistics. Experts emphasized that Halal certification acts as a ‘passport’ for trade, requiring strict control over raw materials, production, storage, and traceability to maintain product integrity and consumer trust.
Separately, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a workshop regarding the U.S. market for 2026. Discussions focused on the evolving legal requirements, trade environments, and the need for Vietnamese businesses to enhance management capabilities and risk mitigation. To succeed in the U.S., experts suggested that companies should move beyond simple exporting toward building brands, establishing local partnerships, and integrating more deeply into U.S. supply chains.
