Vietnam targets top 3 Southeast Asian tourism ranking by 2030

Vietnam is implementing a new strategic framework to transform its tourism sector into a leading economic driver. Under Resolution 263/NQ-CP, the government aims to position Vietnam among the top three tourism markets in Southeast Asia by 2030. Key objectives include having tourism contribute between 10% and 12% of the national GDP and focusing on high-value, sustainable, and digitally integrated services.

Recent data highlights the sector's momentum, with approximately 6.5 million tourists visiting the country during the September 2 national holiday period. Additionally, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park was recognized by The Times as one of Vietnam's 11 most beautiful destinations for 2026.

In broader economic terms, SSI Research forecasts that Vietnam's GDP for the third quarter of 2026 could see growth between 8.7% and 9.3%. This projection is supported by strong industrial production and significant foreign direct investment, though experts emphasize that long-term stability depends on the efficient conversion of public investment into functional infrastructure.
