Vietnam tax authorities urge identity verification via eTax Mobile
The Vietnamese tax authorities have launched a campaign to clean up tax identification number data, urging taxpayers nationwide to verify their information via the eTax Mobile application. This initiative follows reports of identity theft where individuals have discovered they are being used as legal representatives for businesses without their knowledge.
Through the eTax Mobile app or hotlines, the tax sector has already received approximately 4,000 reports regarding fraudulent business registrations. Such identity theft can force victims to undergo lengthy processes to verify their identities and resolve tax obligations they did not create.
To report discrepancies, users can log in to eTax Mobile using their tax ID or VNeID, navigate to personal information, and check for any linked organizations. If unauthorized business links are found, users can utilize the “Gửi phản ánh” (Send feedback) function to notify the managing tax authority. Once a registration is confirmed as fraudulent, authorities will revoke the business registration certificate and coordinate with tax departments to update records.
