Vietnam telecom regulator to block 25 million mobile lines without subscriber verification

Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communications announced that more than 25 million mobile subscribers who have not verified their details on the VneID platform will have outgoing calls and SMS blocked from 15 June 2026. Subscribers must confirm their identity using biometric facial recognition or other verification methods provided by telecom operators.

If verification is not completed within 60 days of the one‑way block, two‑way services may be suspended and contracts terminated. Telecom companies are assisting the process, offering multiple verification channels—including online apps, authorized service points, and home visits for the elderly and other vulnerable users.
