Vietnam tightens street‑food safety after Nha Trang, Lam Đồng poisonings

Provincial health officials in Khánh Hòa fined two Nha Trang bakeries after a food‑poisoning investigation. The stall Cô Hồng was penalised 2 million VND and ordered to halt operations for hygiene breaches, while the Đồng Mẫn outlet received a 14 million VND fine and was also suspended.

In Lam Đồng, authorities launched a province‑wide review of all street‑food vendors following two large poisoning incidents involving bread sold by stalls such as Minh Trung. The latest outbreak on 28 July led to 84 suspected cases, with dozens hospitalised. The provincial People's Committee instructed health, agriculture and commerce agencies to intensify inspections, enforce food‑safety standards, and issue public warnings to prevent further cases.
