Vietnam tilapia exports rise 43% as Brazil becomes key market
Vietnam's tilapia exports reached $90 million in the first eight months of 2026, marking a 43% increase compared to the same period in 2025. According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Brazil has emerged as the primary market, accounting for approximately 49% of total export turnover with $44 million.
While Brazil and Saudi Arabia showed growth, other markets experienced volatility. Exports to the United States fell by 48% over the eight-month period, totaling $21 million, due to low purchasing power and high inventory levels. Conversely, Japan showed significant potential, with August exports increasing by 192% year-on-year.
