Vietnam tilapia exports surge 55% driven by Brazil demand
Vietnam's tilapia exports reached $80 million in the first seven months of 2026, representing a 55% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Brazil has emerged as the primary growth driver, accounting for $40 million in exports—a 20,065% increase—and representing 50% of the total export value. In July alone, exports to Brazil reached $5 million, up 6,272% year-on-year.
Other market trends include a 61% increase in exports to Japan, totaling $1.6 million, where Vietnamese tilapia is increasingly used for the sushi and sashimi segments. Conversely, exports to the United States fell by 42% to $18 million during the same period. Exports to Saudi Arabia grew by 24%, reaching $5 million.
