Vietnam tilapia industry launches integrated supply chain to boost $100M exports

Vietnam’s tilapia sector is building an integrated value chain that links feed production, breeding, farming, processing and export. Aquafeed maker Viet Nhat Group, together with BaiYang Vietnam Food, is constructing a new VND 1 trillion (about $42 million) processing facility in Tien Hai Industrial Park with an initial capacity of 150 tonnes per day. The model emphasizes traceability, quality control and sustainable sourcing, using US‑sourced soybeans certified under the Sustainable Soy Assurance Protocol and holding Best Aquaculture Practices certification.

The integrated approach is aimed at meeting the rising standards of European and U.S. markets as Vietnam’s tilapia exports are projected to surpass $1 billion for the first time, up from an expected $100 million in 2025. By providing technical support, disease‑prevention guidance and market access to farmers, the ecosystem seeks to secure stable, high‑quality raw material supplies and enhance the sector’s competitiveness in global seafood trade.
