Vietnam to adjust monthly social allowances by 2027
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has been tasked with proposing adjustments to monthly social allowances to align with minimum living standards, price fluctuations, and budget capabilities. This proposal is scheduled for completion by September 2027, following Decision No. 1960/QD-TTg issued by the Prime Minister.
The initiative aims to establish a multi-layered, inclusive, and digitized social security system by 2030, ensuring a minimum social safety net for all citizens. Priority resources will be directed toward children, the elderly without pensions, people with disabilities, the poor, and other vulnerable groups.
Key objectives include simplifying administrative procedures and ensuring the safety net covers essential medical care, basic income, and development conditions for children. The plan also seeks to support working-age individuals facing job loss, loss of livelihood, maternity, accidents, or disability.
