Vietnam to block outgoing calls on unverified mobile SIMs after June 2026 deadline

Starting 15 June 2026, Vietnam’s telecom regulator will suspend outgoing calls for mobile numbers that have not completed ownership verification through the VNeID electronic identity system. More than 25 million subscribers are currently unverified, and they will first face one‑way service suspension; continued non‑compliance can lead to a full two‑way lock and reclamation of the number.

Users can check their verification status on the VNeID app or on carrier apps such as My Viettel, My VNPT, and My MobiFone. The verification process requires matching personal data, facial images, and, in some cases, biometric checks. Authorities advise the public to use only official channels and warn against fraud attempts. Telecom operators are offering assistance, including in‑home verification for elderly customers and incentives like data bonuses to encourage timely compliance.
