Vietnam to turn VNeID into a national super‑app for finance, health, transport and education

Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security, together with the Ministry of Science and Technology, hosted an international conference on June 5 to exchange experiences on Estonia's digital citizen strategy. Estonian experts highlighted the "once‑only" data‑sharing model that enables nearly all public services to be completed online.

The Vietnamese authorities announced that the VNeID identity platform will be expanded into a national super‑app covering four high‑usage sectors: - Finance and banking – biometric eKYC, secure credit scoring and fraud prevention; - Health and social welfare – electronic health records and cash‑less benefit payments; - Transport – digital driving licences, electronic IDs and seamless toll collection (ETC); - Education and training – linked digital transcripts, certificates and online enrolment.

The plan calls for advanced biometric authentication (face, fingerprint, iris) and stricter data‑protection measures. Deputy Minister General Nguyễn Văn Long stressed that Estonia’s ecosystem will guide Vietnam’s integration of national databases and inter‑agency data sharing, aiming for fully online public services and elimination of high‑tech fraud.
