Vietnam to fine landlords up to 50 million VND for unsafe EV charging

New fire prevention and rescue regulations under Decree 106/2025/ND-CP, effective July 1, 2025, will impose significant fines on landlords and property owners who fail to meet safety standards for indoor electric vehicle (EV) charging areas.

Individuals found lacking fire prevention solutions for centralized indoor EV charging stations, failing to provide electrical systems for firefighting, or failing to maintain power sources for firefighting services face fines ranging from 40 million to 50 million VND. In addition to monetary penalties, violators will be required to implement mandatory fire prevention solutions.

For households, business households, and residential communities, the fine rates for individuals will apply. However, if an organization commits the same violations, the fine will be twice the amount applied to individuals.
