Vietnam to host 90th ASEAN Science and Technology Committee meeting

Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology will host the 90th meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI-90) in Da Nang from October 13 to 15, 2026. The event is expected to gather approximately 250 delegates, including representatives from ASEAN member states, the ASEAN Secretariat, international partners, and scientific experts.

COSTI-90 serves as a critical platform for reviewing the progress of regional cooperation and implementing the ASEAN Action Plan on Science, Technology and Innovation 2026–2035 (APASTI 2026–2035). The program includes seven official meetings: five specialized subcommittees, the 21st meeting of the COSTI Advisory Council (BAC-21), and the COSTI-90 plenary session.

This session marks the first meeting of the five newly streamlined subcommittees, which were restructured from nine to improve coordination and implementation efficiency. The subcommittees will focus on areas including the science and innovation ecosystem, emerging and deep technologies, biotechnology and food science, materials and energy technology, and earth, ocean, and space sciences.
