Vietnam to implement new land and housing policies in September
New land and housing policies in Vietnam are set to take effect on September 1, 2026, under Decree 326/2026/ND-CP. A key component of this regulation is the implementation of a unique 12-digit identification code for various locations, including land parcels, architectural works, and physical structures.
Each location will be assigned a single, non-duplicable code to ensure long-term stability and integration with national and specialized databases. While the decree takes effect in September, the issuance of codes for all land parcels will not happen simultaneously; authorities will synchronize data for existing records and establish roadmaps for collecting information where data is currently incomplete.
Additionally, individuals and organizations will be able to access public location identification data through the VNeID national identification application. Users can also access their own specific information within the location identification database via the app.
