Vietnam to Mandate Traceability for High‑Risk Goods via VeriGoods Platform

Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade is preparing to make electronic traceability mandatory for high‑risk products through the VeriGoods system, starting 1 July 2026. The rule requires businesses to register products, upload origin, batch, expiry and other data, and display a verification code that consumers can check for free. Non‑mandatory goods may still join voluntarily and can display a “green badge” for transparent sourcing.

The VeriGoods platform, operating since late 2025, has already recorded over one million product codes and supports more than 18,000 items uploaded by farmers, producers and firms nationwide, including key commodities such as rice, meat, dairy, fruit and tea. A pilot traceability scheme for exported durian attracted 16 companies and aims to integrate with the national data centre by early July 2026.

Ho Chi Minh City has also issued a plan to roll out a traceability system for pork, poultry and eggs between 2026 and 2030, emphasizing IT‑based tracking across the entire supply chain, from breeding to retail.
