Vietnam to play Cambodia in ASEAN Cup as Hong Kong referee Cheung Wai Lung returns

Vietnam, currently top of Group A in the ASEAN Cup 2026 with seven points from three matches, will face Cambodia on 7 August at Hanoi's My Dinh Stadium. The match is decisive for securing the group‑leadership spot.

The appointed referee is Cheung Wai Lung from Hong Kong, a FIFA‑listed official since 2026. He previously officiated Vietnam’s 3‑0 friendly win over Bangladesh in March 2026, and is noted for a strict style, having issued 47 yellow cards in ten matches during the 2025/26 season. His officiating team includes assistant Lam Cheuk Hong (Hong Kong) and two Thai assistants, Apichit Nophuan and Alongkorn Khonwai.
