Vietnam tops Southeast Asia in Google AI Gemini usage

Google’s latest Gemini report shows Vietnam leading the Southeast Asian region in the number of AI queries and overall usage. Vietnamese users generated the highest proportion of native‑language interactions, with 89% of Gemini commands entered in Vietnamese, ahead of Thailand (87%) and Indonesia (84%).

The surge is driven by a youthful population – nearly 40% under 25 – and strong mobile adoption, as about 75% of Gemini requests come from smartphones. Google and Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training discussed further cooperation, noting that Vietnam also ranks first in the number of Google Certified Educators and is advancing AI integration in schools.

These trends highlight Vietnam’s rapid embrace of generative AI tools for learning, work, and creative content, positioning the country as a regional leader in Google’s AI ecosystem.
