Vietnam tourism grows as Phu Tho and Khanh Hoa expand services
Vietnam is seeing significant growth in regional tourism, with Phu Tho and Khanh Hoa provinces reporting high visitor numbers and implementing new development strategies.
In Phu Tho, the province welcomed 13.4 million visitors during the first nine months of 2026, including over 4.16 million overnight stays. Efforts to improve the visitor experience include the deployment of 70 electric vehicles at the Hung Temple historical site and the development of community-based tourism in Mai Ha commune, where nearly 90 households operate homestays. International tourists account for over 30% of stays in the Mai Ha area.
Khanh Hoa province has emerged as a leading tourism hub, receiving over 20.4 million visitors in the first nine months of 2026, generating an estimated 68 trillion VND in revenue. The province aims to make tourism a spearhead economic sector by 2030, targeting 33 million visitors and $9 billion in revenue. To support this, Vietjet Air has launched a direct flight from Moscow to Cam Ranh, marking a step in the province's plan to expand international markets including Russia, China, South Korea, and the United States.
