Vietnam tourism hits 16 million international arrivals in eight months
Vietnam has welcomed nearly 16 million international visitors during the first eight months of 2026, reaching approximately 63.6% of its annual target. August alone saw nearly 2 million arrivals, representing an 18.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Asia remains the largest source market, accounting for roughly 74% of total arrivals. China and South Korea continue to lead this segment, collectively contributing about 40% of all international visitors. Notably, the Russian market has seen explosive growth, with over 1 million visitors—a nearly 166% increase year-on-year—positioning Russia as the third-largest international market for the country.
Other significant trends include a surge in European travelers, which grew by 53.4%, and a breakthrough in the Indian market. The expansion of direct flight networks and increased charter services are cited as key drivers for these shifts. Regional destinations such as Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, and Phu Quoc have benefited significantly from these rising travel trends.
