Vietnam tourism sectors see growth and policy shifts

In Khanh Hoa province, a pilot visa exemption policy for Chinese citizens traveling in groups is expected to boost international tourism. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, China was Khanh Hoa’s largest market, accounting for approximately 70% of its international visitors with over 2.5 million arrivals in 2019. Officials hope the reduced entry procedures will encourage travel agencies to strengthen cooperation with Chinese partners and restore international flight routes.

Meanwhile, Gia Lai province reported significant tourism growth during the first nine months of 2026. The province welcomed approximately 13.5 million visitors, a 25% increase compared to the same period last year, generating an estimated 29,210 billion VND in revenue. This growth is attributed to various events hosted during the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026, including international martial arts festivals and travel forums, aimed at establishing cultural industry and tourism as a key economic pillar for the region.
