Vietnam and Belgium recorded a total bilateral trade turnover of $3.49 billion during the first three quarters of 2026. According to customs data, Vietnam's exports to Belgium reached $3.05 billion, an 11.2% increase compared to the same period last year, while imports from Belgium totaled $442.7 million, a decrease of 26.7%.
Footwear remains Vietnam's top export to Belgium, valued at $914.7 million. Other significant export categories include textiles ($389.2 million), iron and steel ($347.4 million), and coffee ($269.5 million). Notably, exports of computers, electronic products, and components saw a massive surge of 566% year-on-year, reaching $50 million. In terms of imports, pharmaceuticals were the primary commodity from Belgium, though this sector saw a 61.4% decline compared to the previous year.
Separately, Vietnam's wood and wood products industry reported $13.43 billion in exports during the first nine months of 2026, a 7.3% increase. While Vietnam maintains a strong global position as the fifth-largest exporter of forest products, industry officials emphasize the need to reduce reliance on the US market and transition from low-value OEM manufacturing to higher-value ODM models.
