Vietnam U17 team begins South Korea training camp for World Cup
The Vietnam U17 national team has arrived in South Korea to begin a critical 10-day training camp in preparation for the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar. Led by coach Cristiano Roland, the squad will participate in three friendly matches against South Korean youth sides, including U16, U17, and a K-League U18 club, to test tactical setups and physical endurance.
Following the South Korean stint, the team is scheduled to travel to the United Arab Emirates on November 6 for further training and friendlies against teams such as U17 Fiji and U17 Saudi Arabia. This preparation phase is vital as Vietnam is drawn into Group G of the World Cup alongside Belgium, New Zealand, and Mali.
However, the squad faces a setback with the loss of striker Dau Quang Hung, who has been ruled out of both the training camps and the World Cup due to a thigh injury. Meanwhile, domestic football news highlights the rising form of senior players like Tuan Hai and Tien Linh, as well as the emergence of U23 talents such as Le Phat and Quang Vinh, signaling a potential new cycle for Vietnam's national football programs.
