U20 Vietnam loses 0-3 to North Korea in AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers

U20 Vietnam suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat against U20 North Korea in their opening Group C match of the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers at Viet Tri Stadium. After a competitive first half that ended 0-0, North Korea scored three goals in quick succession during the second half to secure the win.

Following the loss, U20 Vietnam sits at the bottom of Group C with zero points and a -3 goal difference. The team faces a difficult path forward, especially with the loss of key striker Le Phat, who must return to his club, Ninh Binh, for domestic league duties.

Despite the setback, coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's side still has mathematical chances to advance. Under the current tournament format, the eight group winners and the seven best runners-up qualify for the final tournament in China. To stay in contention, Vietnam must aim for strong results in their upcoming matches against Palestine and Iran.
