Vietnam U23 football team eyes new attacking options

The Vietnam U23 national football team is preparing for upcoming competitions, including the 2027 SEA Games and the 2028 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers. Due to age restrictions requiring players to be born in 2005 or later, several current players such as Dinh Bac, Thanh Nhan, Quoc Viet, and Ngoc My may soon depart the squad.

To replace them, coach Kim Sang-sik is looking toward a new generation of forwards characterized by superior physical stature. Players such as Williams Minh Hoang (1.90m), Nguyen Dang Duong (1.84m), Nguyen Minh Tam (1.80m), Tran Gia Bao (1.81m), and Nguyen Le Phat (1.75m) are noted for their height. This physical advantage is expected to provide the team with new tactical capabilities, particularly in aerial duels and contested balls, areas where previous generations have struggled.
