Vietnam UAV breaches cause 100 billion VND in aviation losses
Over the first nine months of the year, Vietnam has recorded 30 incidents of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) violating no-fly zones. These security breaches affected 149 flights and resulted in economic losses exceeding 100 billion VND.
In response to the increasing complexity of these unauthorized flights, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has issued directives to implement preventive measures and strictly penalize the illegal use of UAVs, kites, sky lanterns, hot air balloons, model aircraft, and high-power lighting devices in restricted airspace.
Cam Ranh International Airport has been identified as a key area requiring protection due to its importance for international tourism and local economic development. Authorities are increasing public awareness campaigns and requesting local businesses and residents to refrain from activities that threaten aviation safety, such as operating drones or using laser lights near airports.
