Lê Tiến Châu urges substantive state-university-business cooperation
At the 2026 Public Sector Partner Connection Conference held at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), Deputy Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu emphasized the need for substantive cooperation between the state, academia, and the business sector.
He urged the Ministry of Education and Training to develop a scheme that promotes effective collaboration models, focusing on practical problems and resource mobilization. The Deputy Prime Minister also called for a review of scientific and technological evaluation criteria to prioritize economic and social impact over purely academic metrics.
To avoid superficiality, he instructed that research and cooperation must have clear outputs, specific users, and measurable efficiency. He encouraged universities to build strong, interdisciplinary research groups to address national bottlenecks and practical challenges.
