Vietnam uses VR to recreate 1945 Independence Day moment

The “Return to the Sacred Moment” program is using virtual reality (VR) technology to recreate the historical moment when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945. Organized by the Voice of Vietnam in collaboration with the CDIT Institute of Information and Communication Technology, the event aims to provide a visual and immersive way for the public to engage with history.

Following stops in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, and Nghe An, the program is being held from August 19 to 21 at the Independence Palace (Thong Nhat Hall) in Ho Chi Minh City. The event coincides with the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day. Participants, including many young people and veterans, use VR headsets to witness the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, noted that hosting the event at the Independence Palace creates a symbolic connection between the birth of the new state at Ba Dinh Square and the unification of the country at this location.
