Vietnam-Uzbekistan Friendship Association celebrates 30th anniversary

The Vietnam-Uzbekistan Friendship Association celebrated its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of fostering people-to-people diplomacy and bilateral ties. The event brought together various generations of leaders, partner organizations, businesses, and former students and researchers who studied or worked in Uzbekistan.

Lai Ngoc Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam-Uzbekistan Friendship Association, noted that the foundation of the relationship was established during President Ho Chi Minh’s historic visit to Tashkent in 1959. He highlighted that during Vietnam’s periods of national liberation and reconstruction, Uzbekistan supported the training of approximately 3,000 Vietnamese citizens, including engineers, scientists, and experts.

Looking toward a new phase, the association aims to modernize its activities by engaging younger generations, entrepreneurs, and intellectuals. Alisher Rustamovich Mukhamedov, Chairman of the Uzbekistan-Vietnam Friendship Association, expressed expectations for continued cooperation in areas such as entrepreneurship and education to deepen the bond between the two nations.
